The Archdiocese of Miami has robustly participated in the Unites States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People since its inception over 15 years ago and has been in compliance every year.

This can only happen with the dedication of pastors, principals, directors and coordinators of religious education, administration and staff in collaboration with parents and volunteers.

Tips for Protecting Children and the Vulnerable

  • No one has the right to have access to children. No one, no matter who they are, has an automatic right to be around children or vulnerable adults who are in the care of the Church without proper screening and without following the rules. Volunteering is a privilege that comes with responsibilities.
  • Common sense is not all that common. Dioceses, schools, parishes, and especially families must educate themselves and others on how to protect children.

We join Pope Francis in his prayer for victims of child abuse... we humbly ask for the courage to acknowledge and repair past injustices, may God give us the strength to remain faithful in the work of protecting those most vulnerable. We pray to the Lord.
