Special Subjects

The Spanish language curriculum is taught from grades Kindergarten through eighth. It integrates the development of the students' proficiency in the Spanish language through speaking, reading, writing, and the arts.

Starting in the first grade, writing and reading become an essential component of the Spanish language curriculum. For grades four through eight, the program is offered in two levels, intermediate and advanced. These grades are also involved in cultural projects or theatrical performances during Hispanic Heritage Month.

As the students progress from one level to the next, the curriculum becomes more demanding and involves computer and interactive board-assisted instruction. The Accelerated Reader program has also been incorporated into the curriculum for grades six through eight.
