Special Subjects

The St. Agnes Academy Library and Media Center is open to all students and staff. The library provides a large range of learning opportunities for both large and small groups, as well as individuals, with a focus on intellectual content, information literacy, and the learner.

In addition to classroom visits and collaboration with teachers, the library also serves as a place for students to do independent work, use computers, equipment, and research materials. It also hosts special events such as author visits.

The library program includes grades PK-3 through fifth. Integration with the arts is present almost constantly, since students very often express their understanding of the stories through drawing, movement, and song.

At the elementary school level, the students are introduced to the cataloguing system and are provided with opportunities to learn about the different areas of the library and how to find information in those areas. Middle school students have study hall in the library, using it as a reference source for assigned work.
