Catechism (CCD)

Parents, enriched by the gift of their children from a loving Creator, are in turn obligated to nourish their childrenís participation in Gods life. Baptism is only the beginning of a life-long journey of faith that must be based on a deep appreciation of the truths and duties of our faith. A CCD program such as the one in our parish, which involves the whole family, is a particularly effective method of catechesis for young children. It helps parents to become more confident in sharing their faith with their children and encouraging their childrenís emerging faith. Having introduced them to the person of Jesus Christ within the family, our CCD program presents His teachings, His Ministry, and the major events of His life. The most important task of the catechesis of children is to provide, through the witness of adults, an environment in which young people can grow in faith.

Here is some important information about our program:

  • Catechesis is offered for public, non-catholic and private school students from PK to 8th grade.
  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharisr require a minimum of 2 years for preparation. Usually, the Sacraments are received during 3rd grade.
  • We encourage parents to send their children to be in Catechesis from PK to 8th grade.
  • We also have special classes for older children and young people under 18 who did not receive sacraments at the proper age.
  • The Sacrament of Confirmation requires a minimum of 2 years of preparation. Usually, the sacrament is received in 8th Grade.

Enrollment is available online or at the religious education officelocated in the back of the pastoral center. The religious education office is always looking for volunteers to teach or assist in this program. For more information, please email religiouseducation@stakb.org or call (305) 361-1378.

RCIA: Believe, Celebrate, and Live your faith!

  • Have you been baptized? Received First Communion?
  • Been Confirmed?

You may have not yet received all these Sacraments, or you may know someone who hasn't received one or all. The Sacraments are true celebrations of Christ alive in us!

Come join our weekly RCIA conversations in adult faith formation, at the Pastoral Center Mondays from 7 to 8:30 pm. Starting once a week, October 3rd until April, come and discover the "the genius of your Catholic faith" as the mystery of Catholicism begins to unfold before you. Scripture states, we are people created in Godís image and likeness; therefore we are filled with love, dynamism, enthusiasm. Allow this transformation to propel you toward becoming the "best version of yourself." (Matthew Kelly). Be received in BAPTISM, FIRST COMMUNION, and be CONFIRMED, through the Sacraments of Initiation.

Do it now! Call the office of catechesis (305) 361-1378, or email .
